If humans and other primates have evolved over millions of years from a single ancestor, why haven’t the other primates advanced like humans?

Or why have crocodiles and alligators not evolved into something else- why have they remained the same over millions of years? According to Neil deGrasse Tyson (American Astro-physicist – is he qualified to answer this question? I don’t know, but he answers so confidently on everything, that one is inclined to think that he has all the answers), they have evolved to be perfect for their species. How come? Why shouldn’t they have longer legs to chase prey on land(nightmarish as it sounds)? Or develop vocals or wings? Why are they perfect as they are?

What about tortoises? They also evolved over millions of years. Why aren’t they faster? Or Sloths – why do they even exist?

Why does it appear as if Evolution has hit a pause?
